Global Capability Centre or Offshore Support? Think again
The division is no longer geographic.
There are only a handful of ways to organise work that an organisation cannot or will not do itself.You can hand a defined project to an offshore or nearshore firm. You can enter a longer partnership with one. You can hire individual contractors on a day rate and keep them close. Or you can set up a capability centre: your own entity, in another country, staffed with your own people.
Every one of these divides labour by geography. The Global Capability Centre is the newest of them, not the first, and it is being adopted at the moment a more consequential division is being drawn somewhere else.So what does it actually change?
