When Strict Mode is enabled for dependencies, changing the date of one task can automatically adjust the dates of the tasks that follow it.
This means you are not left manually updating five, ten or twenty connected deadlines every time something changes.
And let's be honest, something always changes.
A client takes longer to approve something. A key stakeholder goes on holiday. A project suddenly becomes more complicated than expected. Someone discovers a task that definitely should have been included in the original scope.
Instead of playing project plan whack-a-mole, your timeline can adjust to reflect the reality of the situation.
That gives your team a more accurate view of what is actually achievable.
Avoid the Q4 standoff
Without clear dependencies, project management can quickly turn into a standoff.
One team is waiting for another. The second team thinks they are waiting for approval. Someone else is working from an old deadline. Meanwhile, the project manager is trying to figure out why everything suddenly appears to be due on the same Friday afternoon.
Nobody wins.
Clear dependencies create clarity around ownership, sequencing and timing. They help teams understand not just what they need to do, but how their work affects everyone else.
And when timelines update automatically, there is less room for assumptions and fewer opportunities for outdated information to derail the plan.
